What I'm really trying to do in many of my discussions with you is to get you to start to think like a professional trader or investor when it comes to the stock market. We'll then move on to other areas, but it is so important to first get you moving in the right direction if you are new to the stock market.

Most people focus on hot stock tips and think if they just get the hot stock they can make a lot of money. But you really need to watch the broad market trend and what the sectors are doing too. You want to invest in stocks in the leading sectors of the market and stay away from lagging sectors. This is doubly important when there is a bear market, because it is the only way to prevent yourself from losing money when the market as a whole has a correction.
