401k Advice - Getting the Most Out of a 401K Plan to Retire Well

Take any hundred people at the start of their working careers and follow them 40 years until they reach retirement age, and here's what you'll find, according to the Social Security Administration: only 1 will be wealthy; 4 will be financially secure; 5 will continue to work, not because they want to, but because they have to; 36 will be dead; and 54 will be dead broke - dependent on their meager Social Security checks, relatives, friends, and even charity for a minimum standard of living. That's 5% successful, 95% unsuccessful.

This is why having a 401K plan is so important for your life. Eventually you are going to retire and you are going to need some money properly invested to be able to live. But even when it comes to owning a 401K just having one doesn't insure you are going to be able to retire well. You must have a plan to invest into your 401K and make changes in your 401K when necessary.

If you do not do this then it is possible you could lose everything. Workers who had all of their 401K invested in Enron and Merrill Lynch stock had their 401K's wiped out when their companies went under while the average 401K investor who was fully invested in the stock market in the past few years has gone on a wild roller coaster swing experiencing massive losses and gains in just a matter of weeks a time.

Those swings aren't necessary and if you have had to go through them they are a sign that you really have no real investment plan when it comes to managing your 401K. You need to be properly diversified in order to smooth out such fluctuations and have a system for moving money into some funds and out of other funds at the right time to maximize your returns.

It is all about maximizing your return safely.

In reality only 5% of the people who invested in a 401K are able to reach their retirement goals. That's because 95% of the people simply put money into their 401K without any thought or plan of action at all.

I have been successfully investing in the stock market for over a decade now, even managing one of the top hedge funds on Wall Street for several years before I retired, and have put together a powerful investment guide that can help you easily control your risk and maximize the returns in your 401K. After you read this guide with just five minutes a month you'll be able to identify which investment options in your 401K are best for you and when you may need to even move from one option to another.

Hello. My name is Mike Swanson. I’m the best-selling author of the book Strategic Stock Trading. In a former life I used to run a hedge fund from 2003 to 2006 that generated a return of over 78% during that time frame. In fact it was ranked in the top 35 out of 5,000 hedge funds in 2005.

After I retired from the hedge fund world I setup this website and blog. If you sign up for my free weekly email list below I’ll send you an update on average about once a week on my views of the current stock market trends and share with you actionable investment ideas.

Now I cannot promise you that every stock I find will go up in value. I can’t promise you endless 100% returns as others claim they do and as all the disclaimers say past performance does not necessarily predict future performance and you can lose all of your money in the stock market.

This is reality.

What I can promise you is my dedication to doing the best I can for you.

You see the key to making money over the long-run in the stock market is to manage your risk. Once you sign up to my newsletter I’ll send you a series of educational videos and writings showing you how I use stop-loss orders to cut any potential losses and how I use my two fold formula system that combines fundamental and technical analysis to pick stocks. My goal is to risk one dollar to try to make at least three dollars in my trades by looking for stocks that are priced cheaply on a valuation basis, have high earnings growth, and have excellent chart patterns.

So join my list below and let me help guide you on your journey in the stock market.
